For many people camping will be second nature, every opportunity will be spent outside in a tent. Although for some this is not the case, some have never been camping and this post is aimed to help prepare you for your first adventure under canvas.
Location
Making the brave first step to agree to spend a night under the stars can be daunting but this can be made a little bit easier by choosing the right location. One of my favourite things is waking up to the stunning views of a mountain range or looking up at the stars before going to bed at night. Wherever you choose to go camping though make sure there are things to look forward to, just like any holiday, choose the destination and then find the campsite to match.
So, it's a good idea to have a practice run in the back garden or local field. Whilst you put it up to its also worth checking you have enough tent pegs (they have a habit of going missing)..ow how to put up your tent. the busier it will be. If you are looking for a nice quiet getaway in the school holidays it may be worth compromising luxury for peace and quiet.

The weather
It‘s well known that the UK is a fairly wet country. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that at some point over your trip it will rain and it will be cold. This is all part of the experience but can be helped with some extra blankets and a decent waterproof jacket.

Practice makes perfect
Now I’m not talking about playing the piano here but it's the same principle. When you get to your campsite all ready and raring to go, the last thing you want is to realise you don’t know how to put up your tent.

Plan what to eat
You may decide that you want to try and cook on an open fire whilst you are away. If so it's worth checking your campsites rules as some do not allow this or only allow it in certain areas.

Make sure any meat you cook is definitely done all the way through and don’t worry if the outside burns a little whilst its cooking. Most campsites have small shops where you can buy basic food as well so you don’t always have to worry about getting to the local shop to stock up on all the essentials.
